2020 Summary

 Another year, another art summary. It's a shame that even though I had more free time than ever before, I somehow drew less than last year. I guess it was a difficult semester. Good riddance to 2020, and I hope 2021 is just a regular friggin year.

Comic Sketch - Fake News

 A little doodle of a comic about Hayori learning brand new information about himself. Not the best thing to hear when your alter ego is a wanted criminal. Also featuring fun little cameos of my other characters in the news clips.

Character Design - Slice of Cheese

 A reference sheet for Slice, the urban sewer druid/ranger. Likes hidey-holes and cheese and shiny things. She swears in cheeses. Beware the rat, for never is there just one.

Sketch - Scars

 Some sketches I did of Hayori's many scars. Out of all my characters, he has it the roughest - he's clearly been through a woodchipper, an axe pit, a pack of starving rabid wolverines... Being the author's favorite is a heavy burden. But it's not my fault - he's the one who chose "having a death wish" as a hobby!

Comic Sketch - Slice and the Big Cheese

 One of my D&D/EverQuest II characters, Slice of Cheese, staying well-focused on the heist at hand. The missing third panel is just a huge speech balloon of one word from Briareos:
"SLICE!!!"

Sketches - Hayori

 I slowly got around to giving Hayori an updated art style, and I'm happy to say I didn't use a single reference for these. I made his mask more stylized so it blends in with his hair and is all shaded and mysterious, and I gave him a more consistent hairstyle in his regular clothes, too.

Doodle - Sometimes you let the playlist go and it GOES

 Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's my soul fleeing my body from the force of a song I didn't even know was on there! It was a good remix, though. Once I was over my shock.
I've done some other sketches in the lull of posting - I will post them once they're more organized. I've just been too busy to do anything big.

Sketch - She has stars in her eyes

 I've barely drawn anything since this semester started. Certainly haven't finished anything. I expected to be busier than usual, but I didn't expect to be swamped 24/7. I finally decided to do a sketch while avoiding homework, so here is a very quick sketch loosely based on Nickel.

Art Fight - Kassia

 One last late revenge for Art Fight, Cesium's butterfly bounty hunter. I'm very proud of the pose and anatomy even though I had to use references.

 A revenge for ArtemisOverlord of their Steven Universe OC, Black Spinel. I don't watch the show, but I hope I didn't get anything horribly wrong.

Art Fight - Aella

I happened to come across Kindred Spirit's D&D character Aella, an air genasi bard whose design looks almost exactly like Nickel's, and I had to draw him! After all, we seem to be kindred spirits (ayy). If I had had more time, I would have loved to have drawn the two of them having a dance party together.

Unfortunately it was friendly fire, so no points.

Art Fight - April Abercarthy

I finally got around to attacking one of my favorite phantom thief OC's on Art Fight, Aisforinterval's April/Percy. I like this quite a bit! Although after I submitted it, I suddenly realized the pose is almost identical to a piece I did last year. Complete coincidence, but I still feel like a cheater.

Art Fight - Mew

An attack of YeeshaStone's cool D&D-themed Pokemon, a rogue Mew. The scene was based on a short story clip she provided. I don't usually draw animals and I think it shows, though. 38.28 points!

I had so much fun with this revenge for Dels! The water and splash were a lot of fun to do, although the hair was a bit of a pain. I like this character a lot! 47.85 points!

A couple of supervillains belonging to Adamonstro. I'd been wanting to draw these two for a while and originally I planned to submit it as polished, but I ended up having a lot of trouble with it and it didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. 36.32 points.

I've finally got around to making a much nicer design for my Pokemon trainer, Kate. I went with a classier, fresher, "new money" kind of look, and she got a bit of a personality update as well to go along with it. Still cats all the way through though!

I did this piece back in April, decided to wait, and completely forgot about it. It's my mom's favorite Neopet, Blueleeluuu the Mutant Lutari. I tried to go for Beauty & the Beast vibes and make him look friendly and sweet rather than ferocious.

Sketch Dump - Did Someone Say Cultists?

A doodle I did of my character in Pokemon Insurgence, Catcher (named after Catch-22, not catching Pokemon). I like to imagine mega-evolution is reflected in the trainer, too, so he is terrifying while curb-stomping legendaries. He's hideously over-leveled, but he is canonically a very angry and hurt person who lost everything and has everything to lose, so he can take out his frustration on cult leaders and overconfident gym leaders who try to challenge him.

Another Design for the Person Above You game, this time I was drawing a formal villain outfit for Lightnea's character Caitiff in exchange for a wanderer character of mine. I got serious Fire Nation vibes from the character so the outfit is heavily inspired by that.

Comic Sketch - Magical Problems Require Magical Solutions

With all the characters arguing over whether Ben can be trusted, it makes me wish there was a way to test him. If only there was some creature that could detect suspicious and distrustful people. But alas, no such creature exists, especially not one I keep as a pet in my dorm room, so I must content myself with this simple comic for the Hogwarts Mystery subreddit. Seriously though, you'd think as Ravenclaws they'd find a kneazle or a foe glass or something.
Ended up with 114 points, not bad!

Since I've been playing a ton of Portal, I wanted to draw something for it. Particularly of my favorite intelligence dampening sphere. The Oekaki is just as aggravating and unusable as usual, though. I should have used Photoshop; it would have turned out better.
