Despite my unfortunate lack of regular posting, I appear again with the annual art summary. The saddest part is that I had many drawings planned for December, but I left my pen at home when I traveled for the holidays, so this was all I had to include.

I entered Art Fight's Design for the Person Above You Game again as part of my NaNoWriMo world-building challenge for the month, and was tasked with designing a D&D character. Any character at all, as long as it wasn't a human fighter. So I had a lot of freedom. I went with a swamp-themed smuggler, a Water Genasi Druid (Circle of the Swamp).
I'm really happy with this! I did a better job with the color palette than I do for my own characters...

I realized how much this song reminded me of my parents' EQ2 characters, so I decided to draw something as a Christmas or anniversary gift for them. I wish I had added a few of their recognizable items, like Briareos's broken shield. CS has fixed their color selector, yet I continue to draw exclusively in monochrome...

Took a spin on my "new" tablet that a friend gave me a year or so ago. I finally bought the pen it was missing. It has a screen and it's very nice, but it's much different than the basic Wacom tablets I've been using my whole life so it takes some getting used to.
Anyway, I decided to do a nice, simple sketch on the Oekaki. I think this is the first time I've drawn Rico. I'm happy with it!

It has been several years since this campaign ended... Nickel has a new home in Ren's universe, doing what she does best: sailing the seas, plundering treasure, and struggling with basic common sense.

New Ren and Old Ren would not get along. Old Ren would think New Ren is irresponsible and immature, and he'd find her uptight and far too strict. I was surprised at how much my art has improved since I drew Old Ren's original reference sheet - I thought she would look terrible here.

I more or less finished the animatic I have been working on during my lunch breaks. It's nothing special and I'm not particularly proud of it, but I learned a lot. I doubt it will get much attention since it's an OC animatic, but I'll do some funny fandom videos next. For now I want to get back to sketching.

This plant has been a running gag in the story for ages. It lives in the Watch headquarters because someone brought it home once and it was never thrown out. It lives off Bujold's terrible cooking that the others feed it when Bujold's back is turned. Unfortunately, it sometimes gets its teeth on edible food as well. One of my favorite characters.

The epitome of the blog's namesake itself, it's Ren! Someone in The Phoenix Quill threatened to marry off Ren if I wasn't nicer to him. The horror! The audacity! Ren needed to be defended from such a terrible fate, so I defended him with this Brave-inspired doodle.

I finished another old sketch from CS, this time featuring my immortal wanderer and loosely inspired by Genshin Impact, which I've been playing a lot of. There are a lot of things I could have done better, but I'm still happy with it overall. Unfortunately, I also lost a lot of color due to Chrome's color management being broken - I can't see accurate colors when I draw using it.
Update: It was featured on the front page and got almost 400 likes! A lifelong dream finally accomplished!

I've gotten really carried away with this Pokemon AU. It's such a shame Pokemon Gold is already taken - I'll just have to call this AU Pokemon Literal-Gold. It would be such a fun Pokemon game.
I've planned it all out - what a productive use of time! I've decided that while Hayori's Oricorio is his main partner, his Yamask was a gift that his dad brought home for him from an excavation abroad. Also in this AU, the Inspector's partners are Arcanine, Corvisquire, and Cubone. He picked up the Cubone because he just could never leave an orphan alone. Rico has Rotom, Blipbug, and Porygon, as well as a Grimer just to stick it to his parents. And while I completely forgot about the Professor, the Femme-Fatale-Who-Still-Has-No-Name uses a Primarina, Salazzle, and Nicket (and maybe a Thwackey as well).

It's Gold playing Gold! I wanted to do something fun with colors.
If he were a Pokemon trainer, his party would include Purrloin, Yamask, Unown (the ?), and Oricorio - switching up Oricorio's form for heists, of course! I've also considered Drizzile, Meowstic, Vulpix, or Abra for Hayori, but he's much tougher to pick Pokemon for.
